A Lake Placid man was arrested on warrants alleging that he failed to file tax returns between 2005 and 2008.

Alexander Alfred Vega, 47, of 23 Mockingbird Road, Lake Placid, was charged with seven counts of failure to file six consecutive tax returns and one count of theft of sales tax, both third-degree felonies.

He was released from jail Sunday on an $8,000 surety bond.

The affidavit alleges that, between Jan. 1, 2005 and Dec. 31, 2008, he failed to "remit taxes in excess of $300."

From Jan. 1 2005 to Dec. 31, 2006, Vega is also accused of failing to file six consecutive tax returns. These allegations would come every six months during that two-year period.

The same allegation came three more times between April 1, 2007 and Dec. 31, 2008, according to the affidavit.
