One Highlands County man's Labor Day weekend was memorable for all the wrong reasons after being the victim of armed robbery on Sunday.
The robbery happened just after 1 p.m. Sunday on Fernway Street. Highlands County Sheriff's Office Lt. Tim Lethbridge said a man was walking down the road when the assailant jumped out of a trailing red minivan, pointed a firearm at the victim and demanded money and other property.
The man lost an unspecified amount of money and other items, Lethbridge said, but he was not injured during the holdup.
Lethbridge said the robber was 5 feet 9 inches tall with short, dark hair. He was wearing a gray tank top and gray sweatpants.
Anyone with information should contact the sheriff's office at (863) 402-7200.
