The Highlands County Sheriff's Office is investigating two deaths at 4401 Shamrock St., in Sebring.
Sheriff's Lt. Tim Lethbridge said at 3:15 Thursday afternoon that the victims' identities were being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Lethbridge said preliminary results indicate there is no suspect at large in connection with the deaths and there is no reason for neighbors to be concerned.
A neighbor, Paul Martin, who lives across the street, said Thursday morning he saw police arrive with their hands on their guns.
At 2:30 p.m., officials from the state medical examiner's office unloaded two stretchers.
Authorities responded at 10:47 a.m. Thursday after a friend of the deceased, who had made prior plans, came to the home. The friend knocked on the door, did not get an answer, became concerned and called 911, a sheriff's office press release stated.
When they arrived, sheriff's deputies found the two dead victims inside the home.
Asked if it was a murder suicide, Lethbridge said he was "not willing to put a name to it this early."
No other details were available.
