The following people were booked Wednesday, Oct. 22 into the Highlands County Jail:

Carolyn Armstead, 22, of Lake Placid, on charges of aggravated battery where the offender knew or should have known the victim was pregnant and battery.

Thomas Joseph Markland, 61, of 122 Hill Court, Sebring, was recommitted and sentenced to 45 days in jail for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, second offense.

Amilcar Antonio Nevarez, 30, of 341 Royal Palm Ave., Lake Placid, was recommitted and sentenced to 30 days in jail for DUI, first offense.

James Mark Wethington, 46, of Sebring, on a charge of cruelty toward a child without great harm.
