Local teenager Shawnee Lester, 17, has been selected to represent Florida at the 2009 Miss American Teen Pageant.
Lester is the daughter of Dennis and Penny Lester of Sebring. She attends Sebring High School.
As the Florida Teen, Shawnee will be attending the national pageant for her age group at Disney World during the week of Thanksgiving, according to a press release. She will compete for the national title and thousands of dollars in cash, prizes and scholarships.
The nationwide and state pageants are organized by the American Coed Pageants Inc. Other contests also will be held during the competition, including speech, talent, academic achievement, community service as well as many other areas.
