The developers of the Venus ranch land say there is a need for a law enforcement/military live fire training center in the south end of the county.
Law enforcement and military personal already have a live fire training center on the north end of the county (the Avon Park Bombing and Gunnery Range).
Why would the military need to pay for the use of a private training center when they own one a few miles away?
The Avon Park Bombing Range has all the facilities that are planned for this Eagle Training Center, including the runway.
I feel certain that the Avon Park range would be open for use by all federal law enforcement and likely state and local agencies, as well.
It has been used for these purposes before.
If law enforcement and the military have a training center in the area, you have to wonder who these developers plan to train.
If I were a county commissioner I'd be having a hard time buying what these people are selling.
The county commission should put the needs of the people who live in the Venus area ahead of these developers. If they don't, the voters need to remember it.
