We had two major talent events going at once, The Highlands Little Theatre production of "Fiddler on the Roof" as well as the finale of Heartland Idol. Both were outstanding and I have sympathy for anyone who missed either of them.
"Fiddler on the Roof" was flat outstanding. If Broadway scouts ever saw Pete Pollard in action it is my feeling that he would not be living in Sebring, but in New York.
I sure received a treat by being giving a tour of backstage by co-director Frank Oberhausen. It was fascinating to see the working of backstage.
Heartland Idol was to behold. I may not always agree with the judges, but I wouldn't have their job for all the free pecan cluster blizzards Dairy Queen has to offer. Jarrett, a 19-year-old from Frostproof, took top honors. Jarrett had been my choice all along. But I have to admit I was afraid he was too "country" for the judges.
There were between 950 and 1,000 people there and if you weren't one of then you don't have any idea what you missed.
It makes no difference if you are talking, acting, dancing, or singing there is flat talent in this area.
