The U.S. Census Bureau wants you!
As the bureau readies itself for the 2010 census, it's hiring temporary workers to do a variety of census-related jobs.
Some jobs will start in December, others in January and still more in late March and April, said Ron Green, assistant manager at the census bureau office in Lakeland.
Pay starts from $9 an hour and most jobs last from five to 10 weeks, Green said.
Except when knowledge of a "specific" language is required to communicate, most positions require U.S. citizenship, a driver's license and use of a vehicle, and each applicant will undergo a background check.

A census bureau brochure lists the available positions: census takers, crew leaders, crew leader assistants, recruiting assistants and census clerks.
Most census takers usually work in their own neighborhoods and communities and must work varied hours, not exceeding 40 hours a week, the brochure adds.
