A Sebring man remained in the Highlands County Jail Wednesday under no bond following his arrest for allegedly assaulting his brother's girlfriend and snatching her cell phone.
Howard Phillips Brown Jr., 20, of 1105 Grand Ave., Sebring, was charged with first-degree burglary with assault or battery and a misdemeanor count of battery.
Sebring Police Officer Sean Bueford went to a Harris Street home Monday night and spoke to the victim, who said she and Brown started arguing about a vehicle her boyfriend had "traded" to another person, according to the arrest report.
"(The woman) stated she told Brown she had nothing to do with the vehicle," Bueford wrote in the report. "(The woman) stated she walked into (her home) and was walking into her room when Brown pushed her in the back intentionally and against her will, causing her to fall into her room."
Brown allegedly came into the woman's room despite her telling him not to. He then pushed her again, causing her to fall against a wall, the report stated.
The woman tried to call his brother to straighten the situation out, but Brown reportedly pushed her again, snatched the cell phone from her hand, put it to his ear and then gave it back to her.
Brown then left the area and was arrested around 3:45 p.m
