Thank you Dr. Toulouse
I would like to thank Dr. Toulouse at Florida Hospital Lake Placid and his staff. When my wife Gussie Brooks was in the ER, I couldn't ask for any better care. Also in the ICU she had some of the best care the nurses; thank you very much, especially to Reed and Kami. My wife passed away from ALS Disease on Oct.18.

Thank you to all who contributed to Veterans Day
I wish to take this time and thank the individuals and organizations that contributed to the Veterans Day Parade held in downtown Sebring. What a lovely display of patriotism and gratitude by those who participated and attended. It was a delight to see all age groups, young and old, gather together and honor our veterans of the Armed Forces.
I can not help but feel somewhat dismayed by the lack of participation from our area's high school marching bands. What is a parade without a marching band?
Our students missed a great opportunity to honor the very men and women who gave them the freedom to march and play. The question was posed by several spectators, "Where are the marching bands?" It is truly sad to think that our school leaders either overlooked or made a decision not to offer band participation in the event.
It was wonderful seeing our state Rep. Denise Grimsley as well as county commissioners Barbara Stewart and Edgar Stokes actively participating in the parade. However, as the parade occurred in downtown Sebring, I was chagrined that our city council was not represented. Should not we all take a few minutes out of our busy schedules to honor these men and women who fought for our freedom? More specifically, should not our city leaders set a better example than they did this Veterans Day and participate in this event?
