Investigators are in the middle of an arson investigation after the remnants of a fire was found Wednesday morning at an unoccupied Spring Lake area home.
Lt. Gus Garcia, with the Highlands County Sheriff's Office, said deputies arrived at 824 Duane Palmer Blvd., at 7 a.m. after a neighbor called and reported walking by and seeing a broken window.
When deputies entered the home, they found that a fire had started in a bedroom before burning itself out, according to Garcia.
Garcia said Wednesday morning investigators had not determined if anything was missing because the owner had not yet been contacted.
"We don't know at this time," he said.
