'Fiddler On The Roof' opens tonight

SEBRING - The first performance of - "Fiddler On the Roof" is set for tonight at 8 at Highlands Little Theatre, 356 W. Center Ave., in Sebring.

Curtain time is also 8 p.m. Nov. 7 and 2:30 p.m. Nov. 8.

Dance Club features The Skylarks

SEBRING - The Highlands Social Dance Club hosts ballroom dancing tonight from 7 - 9:30 p.m. at the Sebring Lions Club on Sebring Parkway.

Music will be provided by The Skylarks.

All club dances are open to the public. Appropriate dress is required.

Admission is $5 for members and $7 for non-members.

Street party on Interlake in Lake Placid

LAKE PLACID - Merchants along Interlake Boulevard will host a street party tonight from 6 - 9 featuring a Pooch Parade and Best Dressed Dog Contest, dog shows with obedience trainers, muscle and classic cars, demonstrations by the sheriff's Crime Defense and K-9 Unit, and the Humane Society of Highlands County.

Many businesses will participate with sidewalk sales and event specials.

Music will be provided by Gary Filip and there will be plenty of food.

There will be activities and fundraiser at John's Park, including Miss Lake Placid and Go Girls, games, clowns, face painting and DuVall storybook reading.

The food drive for Manna Ministries will have a drop-off location in John's Park for contributions.

A portion of Interlake will be closed to permit pedestrian traffic.

SATURDAY

CCC Festival scheduled at state park

SEBRING - The CCC Festival will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 7 at Highlands Hammock State Park in Sebring.

In addition to two performances by magician Paul Weatherbee, the festival will also include two performances of Darrel Smith's living history program "The Best of Times-The Worst of Times." A noon-time performance by Hank Mattson, the Cracker Cowboy Poet, is scheduled.

There will also be arts and crafts and vendors, antique cars, expansive model railroad display, pony rides by Heartland Horses and Handicapped, hay rides, tram rides and food.

Admission is $6 per vehicle. For more information, call 386-6094.

Free movies set at libraries

SEBRING - Free movies will be shown at Highlands County public libraries Nov. 7. They begin at 2 p.m.

"Play Misty for Me" is the offering at Avon Park, 100 N. Museum Ave., and "Confessions of a Shopaholic" is slated at Lake Placid, 205 W. Interlake Blvd.
