Government fails at running institutions

I sure hope there are more than just one or two of the elected Democratic lawmakers who recognize the shortcomings of United States government run institutions, and there is no need for the government to start running the health care system that is in place.

Here are just a few of those the government has proven to be incompetent at running that I will mention.

In my birth year, 1935, the Social Security system was instituted and since that date it has been totally revised and is facing certain failure in the near future with many who have not paid any money into it are receiving the same, if not better, care than us who have paid for it.

United States Post Offices are laying off employees and closing all over the nation because they cannot make enough money despite raising postal charges to near 50 cents per letter. Fannie Mae was started in 1938 and it's a failure. The government established Freddie Mac and after almost 40 years has proven to be corrupt and failing. Medicare and Medicaid is a failure after having more than 40 years of corruption in fraud and overcharges.

Pay attention, Democrats

The department of energy was established to lessen our dependence on foreign oil in 1977. It has more than 16,000 employees and a budget of more than $24 billion and we still import more oil than ever before.

Virtually every government program that was established to help Americans is in trouble and failing.

We are not forming long soup lines for food yet, but it may not be much longer that the days of the late 1930s are approaching. The only way Roosevelt succeeded with making a recovery from the Great Depression was because almost every family had someone who was out of work and needed help in providing food for their families. We do not need any more super interstate highways or Hoover Dams built.

Roosevelt died before the war ended

What our senators and congressmen need to do is to begin investigating and prosecuting the crooks and swindlers who are wrecking the medical industry. Doctors cannot afford to work in many fields because of the liability insurance costs and possible claims they face from unscrupulous patients. Hospitals face closures because of the liability problems.

If another czar is created it should be a czar who will chase down those who are cheating and swindling the established programs of health care.

Speaking of czars

Al Gore, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama may all arrive in Heaven some day.

God will address Al first and asks, "Al, just what do you believe in?"

Al replies "Well, I believe that I won that election, but that it was your will that I did not serve. And I have come to understand that it was your will for my life."

God thinks for a second and says, "Very good, come and sit at my left side."

God then addresses Bill and asks the same question, "Bill, what do you believe in?"

Bill replies, "I believe in forgiveness, I realize that I've sinned, but I've never held a grudge against my fellow man, and I hope no grudges are held against me."

"You are forgiven, my son. Come and take a seat by my right hand."

God then looks at Barack and asks, "Barack, what do you believe in?"

Barack replies, "I believe you are sitting in my chair."
