Two Memorial Day events have been set for today:
At 11 a.m., the Lake Placid Elks will hold a service.
In Avon Park, the Avon Park American Legion Post 69 also will hold a Memorial Day service at 11 a.m.
A flag disposal will be part of the service.
Those who need a new flag to replace their worn out one, should stop by the Post, drop off their old one and pick a new one "made in the U.S.A." The worn out flag will be properly put to rest.
Following the service, everyone is asked to bring a dish to share; the Post will provide the barbecue hot dogs, sausage and hamburgers.
