A workshop on carbon credits that is geared to landowners and farmers will be held in Sebring on May 28.
Sponsored by Highlands County Extension Office, the workshop "Carbon Trading: Market Opportunities for Agriculture" will run from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Bert J. Harris Jr. Agricultural Center, 4509 George Blvd.
The topics to be covered: "Carbon Resources Management in the Agricultural Industry," by Clyde Fraise of the University of Florida; "The Basics of Greenhouse Gas Accounting: What You Need To Do," by Sandra Kling, chief environmental scientist with Eco Asset Solutions; "Carbon Sequestration from Forest Management: Opportunities for Landowners," by Scott Sager, Environmental Services Inc.; "Carbon Trading: Markets and Policy," by Andrew Walmsey of the Florida Farm Bureau Federation; and "Biochar From Solid Wastes - Turning Trash Into Treasure," by Bin Gao of the University of Florida.
