The South Florida Community College commencement is set for 6:45 p.m. Thursday in the Panther Gymnasium, Highlands Campus.
Speakers will be Norman L. Stephens Jr., SFCC president; Tami Cullens, chairwoman of the SFCC District Board of Trustees; and Paul Przychocki, SFCC Class of 2009. Pastor Andrew Katsanis of Grace Bible Church, Sebring, will give the invocation and benediction.
More than 700 students will have met SFCC graduation requirements by the May commencement. Of these, 555 will receive associate in arts degrees, associate in science degrees, associate in applied science degrees, occupational certificates or college credit certificates, and 160 will be graduates of SFCC's Adult Education program. Approximately, 200 plan to walk across the stage during commencement.
Marshals for this year's commencement are Elizabeth Andrews, Joel Boydston, Dr. Brian Deery, Dr. Theresa James, Lena Phelps-Ellerker, Bob Sconyers, Ricardo Pantoja, and Yvette Stowers-Haralson.
A reception for graduates and their families will be held in the Catherine P. Cornelius Student Services and Classroom Complex (Building B) immediately following the commencement exercises.
