A Sebring man remained in jail Friday on a $55,000 bond after being arrested and charged Wednesday with battering a woman and kidnapping.
Stephen Ross Richards, 48, is also charged with obstructing justice.
At 12:39 a.m., Wednesday, central dispatch received a phone call where a female's voice was saying "don't hurt me." The phone was tracked to a Wolfe Lake Drive address, where the victim and Richards were found sitting in a truck, according to the arrest report.
When law enforcement spoke with the victim, they saw injuries on her that included a bruise on her left eye and scrape on her nose that was swelling.
The victim said Richards physically kept her in the truck while he battered her for two-and-a-half hours, the report stated. She tried to use her cell phone to call for help, but the suspect reportedly took it from her.
Highlands County Sheriff's Office Deputy Sharon Pridgeon made the arrest.
