Gingerlee Prettymitchell's "Words of Wisdom" published March 17 in the letters to the editor are really "Words of Folly." We can't even call them words of knowledge for she is talking about the Bill of Rights and the Constitution and claims Jefferson's words support them.
I think Ms. Prettymitchell will discover that Jefferson was in France enjoying life when the documents were adopted after much discussion and disagreements. The assembly was dead-locked until Ben Franklin suggested prayer. Viola! A miracle happened; agreement at last.
Ms. Prettymitchell thinks the absence of and "estimated" 45 million babies is a good thing based on her worship of money. She equates mothers as being angels in killing their babies. Jefferson's words she quoted, if indeed they are his words, names "Nature" as God. Ms Prettymitchell notes that Jefferson's brief quote was made six years before the signing of the Declaration and Bill of Rights. Strange how when folks want to excuse their approval of sin they find some other God to glorify.
Ms. Prettymitchell, as you agree with Jefferson that everyone has a right to their "Person," I too agree with that but remember at conception, a "Person" is created; separate heart, separate blood, separate DNA and, yes, a separate living soul. Finally Ms Prettymitchell, what do you think a baby is just before it is born? Certainly not part of the mother's body, just a guest there.
This is just my opinion, but I think anyone who supports abortion in any manner is guilty as an accessory to murder. In sending this letter I send it with a prayer that you may see the truth.
