A popular Lake Placid restaurant has closed its doors.
The Tower Restaurant, located at the base of the town's famous landmark, closed within the past week in the Tower Plaza, according to Charles Ervin, general counsel for CHL Holdings Inc.
Ervin said he was surprised when restaurant owners Keith and Michelle Urweider told him Monday about their intentions.
"We'd like to keep them as a tenant," Ervin said Wednesday. "They still have a lease through October 2009."
Attempts to reach the Urweiders at their Lake Placid home were unsuccessful. The telephone at the restaurant went unanswered Wednesday afternoon.
