The Spring Lake Special Improvement District is getting desperate in trying to find some way to make buying the golf course sound like a good idea. One of their more recent schemes being floated, to see what reaction it gets, involves buying the golf course as an investment using what property they need, at our expense and then selling it in 5 to 7 years.
Where did they ever get the idea that they could make the property owners of Spring Lake unwilling participants in their half-baked investment scheme? I always thought we had some say in how we invested our money. Last time I checked this was still the United States of America, not some socialist state. Since when do they think they are land investment specialists?
Another scheme they are considering is to finance the purchase of the golf course over 40 years, so the monthly payments would be lower. But it would just go on for almost forever. Desperation brings desperate ideas. It makes one wonder about why they are trying so hard to sell us this golf course idea.
