The Board of Supervisors is holding a workshop and meeting at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the community center to discuss the district water control plan, funding options and the purchase of the golf course.
Presenters will be financial advisor Craig Wrathell of Wrathell, Hunt & Associates; Gary Ritter, director of South Florida Water Management District office; Gene Schriner, president of Craig Smith Engineers; and William Nielander, attorney for the district. Other attendees may include Highlands County Engineer Ramon Gavarrete and Sebring Airport Manager Mike Willingham.
A board meeting will follow the workshop, which was originally scheduled for March 11.
"This is fact finding," said Joe DeCerbo, Spring Lake's district manager.
The board is holding the workshop, DeCerbo said, "because they don't have near the information they need to make a decision. A number of people think we're not under mandate for water control, but we received a letter of non-compliance last week from SFWMD."
