Last October I had cataract surgery in both eyes at the Newsom Eye and Laser Center. I had been referred to another eye center but I didn't care for the doctor or post surgery scheduling, so I decided to try Dr. Newsom and went for a consult with him.
I was impressed by Dr. Newsom's warm, caring manner and his keen sense of humor. From the pre-op to the surgery, through his post-op exam, his staff reflected his philosophy of patient care. Patients are pampered by everyone and they calm the natural fear associated with such a delicate procedure, as well as monitor patients carefully before and after surgery. If any surgery can be called pleasant, it was a pleasant experience.
My vision is enormously improved. What a bright and clear world I see now! Anyone who has experienced excellent cataract surgery knows what I mean. Medicare pays for a free pair of glasses should they be necessary and my lens prescription was filled promptly and precisely.
Also, the Newsom center offers a series of free seminars on various topics given by staff members who are specialists in explaining the causes and treatments for common eye problems, many of them pertaining to older patients. I attended a seminar on dry eyes and found it detailed and very informative. Included were a tasty selection of snacks and an information packet containing sample eye drops for dry eyes. What could be better than a free lunch and education? If you need cataract or laser surgery, call Newsom Eye and Laser Center; it's the best.
