Precautionary boil water notice issued

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A water main break has occurred due to construction in Lake Placid. The area affected is the east side of U.S. 27 from Lakeview Road, north of the Holiday Inn (not including the Holiday Inn,) including Lake Clay Drive and Paradise Mobile Home Park.

A precautionary boil water notice will be in effect from 96 hours after the water was restored at 6 p.m. on June 26. The 96 hours would make a return to regular water use at 4 p.m. on July 1.

This will give two consecutive days for bacteriological samples as required by the FDEP Regulation. A rescind notice will be issued after 96 hours as long as the samples pass.

As a precaution, the town of Lake Placid Utilities Department suggests that all water used for drinking or cooking be boiled. A rolling boil of one minute or longer is sufficient. As an alternative, bottled water may be used. Call 699-3747 for more information.
