A Lake Placid man was arrested Tuesday on a warrant charging him with leaving the scene of an accident during the 12 Hours of Sebring that injured another man.

Lee Alfred Underwood, 46, of 1546 Lake City Drive, Lake Placid, was out of jail Wednesday on a $1,000 bond.

On March 21, Steve D. Griffin was sitting on a truck's tailgate during the March 21 race when he fell head-first onto the pavement. He was taken to Florida Hospital Heartland Division before going on to Sarasota Memorial Hospital.

Griffin was released from the hospital a few days later.

Law enforcement said Underwood was driving the truck and sped up too quickly, causing Griffin to fall from the back.

Underwood then reportedly left the raceway after the accident.
