I am writing in reference to two pieces of legislation that are now before our so caring representatives (who seem to forget that they work for us).
First is House Resolution 1207 which calls for an audit of the Federal Reserve. In this day of taxpayer bail outs of banks, auto makers (which worked out really well) and Wall Street, it's time we know where all the money went. This has the bipartisan of 235 representatives. It's now time for Senators Martinez and Nelson to co-sponsor the senate version of the bill S.604. If they fail to do so one must wonder what are they afraid of?
Second is the Waxman-Markey Energy Bill. This so-called energy bill was passed on Friday in the House and at some time in the near future will go before the Senate. This is not about energy; this is about taxes! If this becomes law according to the Congressional Budget Office, this will place untold hardships on all of us. Here are the numbers:
1. Raise inflation-adjusted gas prices by 74 percent.
2. Raise electricity rates by 90 percent.
3. Raise the cost of living by $1,600 per year, per household.
4. Raise natural gas prices by 55 percent and while the bill claims to create new jobs, it will destroy 1-3 million jobs until the year 2035. To allow this is to be law would be a criminal act against us all!
