A small movie theater with two screens and seating for 120 people is being proposed for the Mid Town Center in Lake Placid.
Bill Klohn, president of MDG Capital Corp., which operates the center on Tower Street, said Tuesday he is preparing paperwork to be submitted to Lake Placid officials.
The proposal could be presented to the Local Planning Agency on March 16 and then could be on the agenda for the Lake Placid Town Council meeting in April.
Klohn said he was contacted about the theater by Dennis Mann, who owns a theater in Clewiston, and lives in Lake Placid.
A small Italian restaurant is also being considered there to give the theater "a little more draw," according to Klohn.
"I'm totally on board," Klohn said. "It will be a little hometown theater that is very intimate."
Mid Town is a 40,000 square-foot retail/office/medical condominium center, according to the MDG Web site. The first building in the center was completed in the fall 2007.
