I see lots of complaints about different things but few solutions are offered. Here are a few answers that I think would help.
First and foremost, the country must have a value-added tax. This would stop a lot of jobs from leaving the country and may even bring some back. Next, cut out all foreign aid. My guess is that 90 percent of it goes into foreign leaders pockets and doesn't do any good.
The Russians saw that Afghanistan was a black hole and got out, yet our leaders cannot see this, so we are still taking a beating there. It is time to get out. It is also past time to get out of Iraq. Bring home all troops that are in other countries, like Korea and other places.
Our schools are in trouble. Have all children wear uniforms, don't cut teacher's salaries, give them good salaries so that they will stay.
Put a dollar a gallon tax on gasoline (gas in Europe is over $9 a gallon). We could get some mass transportation and new roads with this money and it would also help unemployment.
If our representatives would do some reading they might quit making the same mistakes over and over. Take the embargo off Cuba and treat them like a neighbor. This should have been done 50 years ago.
