'Nunsense' Set For Tanglewood Clubhouse

»  Comments | Post a Comment

There's a whole lot of 'Nunsense' going on at the Tanglewood Clubhouse and the Tanglewood Actors Guild wants people to come and watch, starting at 7 p.m. March 4, 5, 6 and a matinee performance at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 7.

"Tickets have sold briskly but a few remain for our Thursday and Friday show," said Neil Simpson, chairman of the Tanglewood Actors Guild. "However, there are many excellent seats available for the matinee performance on Saturday."

Nunsense is a story within a story, Simpson said.

"The Little Sisters of Hoboken in New Jersey have had a terrible thing happen," he said. "The cook has cooked a meal of vichyssoise soup and killed 52 of them. They set up a greeting card company and raised money but only managed to bury 48 of the sisters.

"The Mother Superior (played by Suzanne Schilffarth) went out and bought a large screen television and DVD player and didn't leave enough money to bury the last four sisters."

The remaining nuns decide to put on a variety show in the auditorium of the school. The students of the school have already put on a performance of "Grease." So the stage is a set from the play "Grease."

Mother Superior refers to the student's play as Vaseline, Simpson said.

During the show, the sisters interact with the audience.

"It's just good, good fun," said Simpson.

The cast includes: Barb Snyder as Sister Hubert, Carol Amrein as Sister Amnesia and her side-kick puppet and alter-ego Sister Mary Annette; marionette, get it?

Stage Manager Renee Menard also gets into the action as Sister Renee.

Erma Anderson plays Sister Robert Anne and Sandy Radawiec is cast as Sister Leo.

The play is directed by Joe Morano, who also designed the set.

Leading the set construction team is Orest Kalyn. Ruth Ann Esseltine is the musical director and Margaret Updike, a local dance instructor, worked on choreography.

Don Day is the drummer.

The box office will be open inside the clubhouse starting at 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, March 5. Tanglewood is located a half-mile north of the Sebring Wal-Mart store.

Reserved seating is $10 and includes a dessert and cold drink provided during intermission and at press time some tickets were still available by calling Beverley Bone at 863-382-8393.
