Highlands Museum of the Arts was alive with activity during a reception held Feb. 20 for the artists accepted into Art 2009.
This inaugural event for museum showcased a wide range of talented artists both locally and from around the country.
The winners of Art 2009 were:
1st Place - Luisa Mesa from MiamiMixed Media on Wood
2nd Place - Kyle from Maitland,Oil and Collage on Hardboard
3rd Place - Rose Ann Samuelson from Ormond Beach,Acrylic on Linen
Ken Rollins, president of Rollins Fine Art, juried the competition.
There were 124 artists, from 32 states, who entered 328 works of art. Out of the 328 works entered, he chose 42 pieces by 26 artists.
The exhibit will be on display through March 26 at Highlands Museum of the Arts, 351 W. Center Ave., Sebring. The museum is located behind the public library in the Allen Altvater Cultural Center.
Museum hours: Closed on Sunday and Monday. Open Tuesday and Friday 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday 1-4 p.m., and Saturdays noon -3 p.m.
