A Sebring man remained in jail Tuesday on a $16,750 bond following his weekend arrest for allegedly burglarizing a local business.

Julian Corey Risech, 19, of Sebring, was charged with burglary of an occupied dwelling while unarmed, burglary of an unoccupied structure while unarmed, theft of $300 or more, damaging property/criminal mischief and resisting officer without violence.

On Sunday, Risech reportedly broke into McPhail's Auto Sales and took more than $2,500 in property.

The rear door was found partially ajar and fresh pieces of wood were found on the ground, according to Highlands County Sheriff's Lt. Keith Starling. Damage to the door was less than $200, the arrest report stated.

Risech was seen close to the business by deputies and began running, while deputies directed him to stop.

The suspect reportedly next saw an open apartment door, ran inside and tried to hide in the bathroom, the report stated. He was eventually apprehended.

Risech allegedly admitted to law enforcement that he had broken into the business and taken property from within.

Highlands County Sheriff's Deputy Daniel Payne made the arrest.
