Placid Utilities Customers Should Boil Water

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Customers of the Placid Utilities water system are being advised to boil their water before drinking, cooking, or brushing their teeth.

This includes ice, soda fountains and drinking fountains, said a press release issued by the Highlands County Utilities Department.

Water was shut down at 3:30 p.m. Saturday to repair an eight-inch water line. Service was restored by 8:30 p.m.

Customers affected by the shutdown should boil water for two days, until bacteriological water samples show the water is safe to drink. A rescind notice will be issued.

The area is along U.S. 27, from the Highway Patrol office to the Stop & Shop, including Placid Temple and St. Francis Episcopal Church on Lake June Road and residences on Vista Drive.
