Man Arrested For Impersonating A Law Enforcement Officer

LAKE PLACID - Robert Lee Marre Jr., 55, of 384 N.W. Carole Road, Lake Placid, was arrested Monday on warrants charging with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without the intent to kill, impersonating a law enforcement officer in the commission of a felony and unlawful use of a police badge and law enforcement vehicle.

On Dec. 15, 2008, Marre reportedly displayed a gold badge to a person riding a four-wheeler on an empty lot on Carey Avenue in Lake Placid and identified himself as a police officer. The person apologized for riding the four-wheeler, at which time the suspect allegedly pulled a firearm, pointed it and demanded that the gentleman leave, according to a sheriff's office report.

Marre told authorities he approached the person to talk about riding the vehicle on private property and the gold badge was to show he had a concealed weapons permit. The suspect added that he did not pull the weapon from his waist, but did have it on his right side and it may have been exposed.

He also denied ever identifying himself as a law enforcement officer when he pulled the badge.

Highlands County Sheriff's Deputy Adrian Gamez made the arrest.

LP Man Entered Jail With Marijuana, Authorities Say

LAKE PLACID - Juan Florez Nieto, 31, of 5 St. Luice St., Lake Placid, was arrested Monday and charged possession of marijuana and smuggling contraband into a detention facility.

He was arrested, searched and taken to the Highlands County Jail for a criminal traffic violation, according to the arrest report. Once inside the jail, a green, leafy substance was allegedly found in Nieto's right pocket. A field test was done and reportedly yielded a positive result for marijuana.

Highlands County Sheriff's Deputy Kenneth Young made the arrest.

LAKE PLACID - Heidi Candess Sutton, 26, of 512 W. Hal McRae Blvd., Avon Park, was arrested Monday and charged with possession of cocaine and possession of marijuana.

Police performed a traffic stop on a white Pontiac with no vehicle tag. The driver, Sutton, eventually gave consent to search the vehicle, according to the arrest report.

A small baggie of marijuana was reportedly found on the back floor board behind the driver's seat. The suspect was taken into custody and searched. A baggie of cocaine and a small plastic straw was allegedly found on Sutton's person.
