Council Accepts Bid For Field Excavation

LAKE PLACID - The Lake Placid Town Council unanimously accepted a bid Monday night for the excavation work for the new rubberized playing surface for the Miracle League field.

Excavation Point Inc. of Sebring was awarded the bid of $33,415. The work will cover earthwork, eight-inch sub base, two-inch asphalt and finish grading.

The field, located at the Lake June ball fields, is used by both adults and children with cognitive and physical disabilities. It is also utilized by softball, T-ball as well as soccer players.

A separate contract for the surface will be discussed at the council's March meeting.

Komasa Appointed To RPAC

LAKE PLACID - John Komasa, the town's recreation director, was appointed to the county's Recreation and Parks Advisory Committee. He will serve a four-year term.

Mayor Tom Katsanis will serve as an alternate.
