Nothing Changes

I firmly believe the real reason for the recession is greed in the ranks of the politicians and the very rich. Honesty, integrity and ethics are absolutely not being practiced by them.
Just for starters, I would like every one who reads this to send me an e-mail if they really believe that the two senators, who did not pay their taxes, really did not know they didn't.
Wall Street, the financial banking biggies, and the list goes on, pulled a scam on the public and still some got their bonuses and very high salaries. The politicians are taking care of them with all the bailouts.
In April 2002, the editor of the Highlands Today wrote that he would like citizens to write to the editor and express their views on the current events. Most of the letter could be reprinted today and still be current. I would like to include a key paragraph from that letter.
"As long as the politicians can continue to receive millions of dollars from lobbyists and from corporate and very rich private people, we will continue to see more bills passed to enrich those people. These are the terrorist I fear, the ones here, legally in the United States, in positions of power in the government of the United States of America; the private terrorists who have power by virtue of being rich, who are able to influence politicians by giving them millions of dollars and have the power to ruin thousands of people's lives."
Remember this article was written over six years ago and millions of lives are being ruined. They are losing their jobs and homes, and the rich get bailed out and still keep their homes.
Look at the local government. Seems to take forever to investigate wrongdoings, doesn't it?
I will close with the last paragraph of the 2002 letter. "I don't expect this letter to change anything for I don't believe that the public really cares how they are being treated. If they did, they would do something about it." I can be reached at weclagg@strato.net
