The Avon Park Police Department is investigating two separate business robberies that occurred within the past week.
On Saturday, Jan. 31, an undisclosed amount of money was taken from the Winn Dixie liquor store at approximately 11 p.m., according to Avon Park Police Det. Sgt. Jason Lister.
Then, on Wednesday, Feb. 4, money was taken from the A1 Discount Beverage convenience store on North Lake Avenue. Both robberies appear similar and possibly committed by the same perpetrator, Lister said. No injuries were reported in either case.
It is also believed that the suspect is responsible for at least one robbery in Lake Wales. On Monday, Feb. 2, a suspect entered the Kangaroo Express convenience store and reportedly reached across the counter, grabbed the clerk's arm and demanded money, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
The suspect kept his other hand in his pocket and implied he had a weapon. He then made off with an undisclosed amount of money.
The suspect is described as a male, between 6 feet and 6-feet-5-inches tall, approximately 200 pounds and either black or Hispanic.
Anyone with information is asked to call Lister at (863) 452-4422. Persons can also report information anonymously to Heartland Crime Stoppers at (800) 226-TIPS (8477). A cash reward is being offered for tips that lead to the arrest of the perpetrator.
