Landowners Election

»  Comments | Post a Comment

I am replying to Mr. Diotte's letter published in the Highlands Today. Mr. Diotte opines over "what was done wrong, what candidates would do to correct incumbents' errors and all kinds of promises of good things to come." I agree with Dick, that's what we should be doing.

When voting in a fair democratic process you can "throw those rascals out if you do not like what they have done." In Sun 'n Lake that is impossible. Until the voting process is changed the "landowners' right to vote" is the only issue in Sun 'n Lake.

Mr. Guglielmi agreed to a time and place to debate the issues with Mr. Miller, then backed out. Mr. Diotte is well aware of this, he was the moderator. With NRPI's vote you cannot lose. Why debate?

Tanglewood, Maronda Homes and Florida Hospital are not a monolithic vote and all paid their current assessments, except for NRPI. They refused to pay and owe the district over $2 million. Ask the residents who are paying a four-year, 56 percent increase in assessments how they feel about subsiding a corporate dead beat.

"Let them eat cake" is a well know comment attributed to Marie Antoinette. When I read Mr. Diotte comment, "It is time the negative bickering stopped and we get on enjoying our great facilities" that's what comes to mind. When the policies and people running Sun 'n Lake are to your liking, it's easy to say, "Let them eat cake."
