No criminal charges have been filed against the driver of a semi-truck who ran over and killed the vehicle's owner Monday in Avon Park, according to authorities.

"It's being worked as a death investigation at this time," said Sgt. Darin Hood, with the Highlands County Sheriff's Office.

Yazhiel Lozano, 32, of Miami, was taken by ambulance to Florida Hospital Heartland Division, where he was pronounced dead, according to Hood.

Lozano, who owned a small trucking company called Vanessa Truck Hauling Inc., was busy loading trucks at Tuco Peat, located at 1521 North Dressel Road in Avon Park, when he was hit by one of his own semis.

Hood said the victim was out of the driver's line of sight, which led to the accident.
