I have enjoyed reading the letters about Christmas these past weeks. It's incredible that someone would actually say that there is no proof that Christ was born on Dec. 25. I must confess that I laughed.
No, we don't know the exact day of his birth and we don't know the exact day of his death on the cross. Through studies, many believe that He died on a Tuesday, not "Good Friday." What we do know for sure is that he rose on the third day after his death.
Dec. 25, Good Friday and other special days were chosen as symbols for all believers to rejoice in the meaning of the birth of the Christ child, that's all.
That is also the reason that many of us believe that Jesus is the reason for the season, that we should not X Christ out of Christmas and that we shouldn't raise our children believing that Christmas is all about "getting" gifts.
If we truly believe that we can celebrate the birth of Christ on this chosen day, that He came to give Himself, we can touch every single life we come in contact with. Believe in the true miracle of Christmas and you will always rejoice.
