Kids in the Washington Heights community will soon have new playground equipment at Mary Toney Park.
By a 4-0 vote Tuesday, the Sebring City Council approved a $15,974 bid from Play-It-Safe Enterprises for the new playground equipment, accepting the recommendation of a committee formed to review the bids.
Councilwoman Margie Rhoades was absent from the meeting.
The committee agreed with a recommendation by Rob Miller, the public works director, who felt the quality of the equipment from Play-It-Safe Enterprises was the best choice.
While it was not the lowest bidder, the company was selected due to the overall value of the play structure with more features for the price as well as quality and durability of the product.
Miller said Thursday that he received an e-mail from the firm asking what colors were desired, but did not yet have a delivery date.
He estimated it would take six to eight weeks for delivery, and due to site preparation and construction, should be ready for the children to play on a few weeks after that.
