Yesterday I went to a store to make our annual Christmas card from a photo of my daughter. It is very easy to do and there are dozens of choices for a card background, but to my surprise, none are actually Christian.
It struck me as odd that they are making a profit off of Christmas but excluding the Christian aspect of it.
Oh, there were Santas and snowmen, snowflakes, poinsettias and such. There was Hanukkah and other religions represented but no manger scenes, no angels, no Virgin Mary and no Jesus.
I'm sure it's the same at other stores and it makes me a bit sad to realize how subtle it all is and how easily we accept it.
Now don't get me wrong. I'm not one of those who think "America is a Christian nation," even though it was founded on Christian principles.
I believe in the freedom of religion afforded all in our constitution. But I am a Christian and think that during Christmas, Jesus should be included. So, in the future, I will take notice before making my cards and if I can't find Jesus in the selections, I'll use my own computer to make my cards! I believe Jesus is the reason for this season.
