At least three times a week I read something in the newspaper that "boils my oil" and makes me want to move to a deserted island where I would be surrounded by trees, plants and critters.
Children dying because their parents allow them, at the age of 2, to roam the neighborhood unsupervised. Health care that eats away at senior's savings while our politicians have excellent coverage at no cost to them. Illegal aliens getting free health care, Social Security and more.
Oh, and let us not forget the celebrities who feel they are above the law; both moral and legislative. Norman A. Cukras said it all in his Dec. 5 article in Highlands Today. The message Tiger Woods and others like him is, "It's okay to break the law, lie and cheat, as long as you have money." This is what our children and grandchildren are hearing.
Although many celebrities donate and feed the hungry (God bless them,) too many of them just sock away their millions without a single thought about the less fortunate. We need to stop idolizing these people, stop supporting them. May God have them walk a mile in the shoes of the homeless.
I still believe this is a Christian nation, and yes, God is always with us, although I am sure He weeps when He sees what is happening to His flock.
