Man charged with bathroom robbery

One person probably didn't feel like dancing this weekend after police say a Sebring man walked into the Club Sensation bathroom and robbed him at gunpoint.

Corey Lee Lenton, 27, of 3336 Betthune Road, Sebring, was arrested Sunday and charged with robbery with a firearm, a first-degree felony, possession of a weapon or ammunition by a convicted felon, assault with intent to commit a felony and grand theft of $300 or more but less than $5,000.

Lenton remained in the Highlands County Jail Tuesday under no bond.

The victim told investigators he was inside the club's bathroom just after midnight on Sunday when Lenton came in, pointed a gun to his side and said, "Gimme what you got," according to the arrest report.

Lenton reportedly took the man's cell phone, a $350 gold chain with a Jesus pendant and $4 in cash.

"(The victim) stated Lenton walked towards the door and stated, 'Do you want to die?'" Sebring Police Officer Sean Bueford wrote in the report. "(The victim) stated, 'No,' and Lenton then left the bathroom."

A witness saw Lenton leave Club Sensation on foot toward the municipal lot behind 777 Lemon Ave., according to the report.

The suspect was found on Booker Street and taken into custody. Two nine millimeter Luger rounds and a cell phone were reportedly found in his clothes pockets. Lenton told the officers that the phone was not his, the report stated.

Dispatch also advised that Lenton was previously convicted of felony possession of marijuana in August 2005.

Both the victim and the witness were taken to Booker Street and positively identified Lenton, according to the report. Beuford then reportedly found a 9mm handgun in a garbage bin behind 777 Lemon Ave.

A round in the weapon's chamber allegedly matched those found in Lenton's pocket.
