Sweet Adelines

Thank you to everyone who attended and donated door prizes, etc., at our fashion show and luncheon, The Heart of Highland Sweet Adelines Chorus' "Adelines Fashions on Parade" which was held at the Paradise Grille, Highlands Ridge Golf Club.

It was a great success. The 170 ladies attending and some gentlemen enjoyed a delicious meal, served by an efficient staff.

Models were Chorus members and represented: Bonworth, Teresa Korn and Kathy Lettman; Dress Barn, Sandy Hinman and Barbara Kuiper; Lake Placid Embroidery, Barb Jones and Geri McQueen; Lake Placid Feed and Western Wear, Kip Mehring and Sharon Vernon; and Sue's Cubby Hole, Ann Heppenheimer and Gail Johnson.

Door prizes were donated by Bellow Spa and Salon, Dress Barn, JC Penney Hair Salon, Lake Placid Embroidery, MidFlorida Bank, No Frills Grill, Lake Placid Country Club, Sue's Cubby Hole, The Spa at Hammock Falls and many Chorus members.

The winner of the 50-50 drawing was Kathi Tavieniere, who donated her winnings to Horses for Handicapped Inc.

The entertainment was provided by two quartets within the Chorus; Girls Night Out and The Heartbeats, and, of course, The Heart of Highland Sweet Adelines Show Chorus.

Special thanks to a surprise male guest quartet Four Guys from Florida and also John Thomas, who delighted us with his keyboard expertise. Part of the proceeds will go into the chorus' Scholarship Fund.

And ladies, if you're interested in barbershop singing, please join us at 7 p.m. on any Thursday at the Avon Park Rotary, located at 20 S. Verona Ave.

Craft sale

Sebring Village residents had a craft sale on Nov. 28, and if you missed it, you missed a great sale. When I walked in, my first thought was wow! Beautiful merchandise greeted me.

Everything I saw was very well made and displayed so well. I wished I could have bought more. Maybe they will have another next year; if so be sure to check it out, you won't be disappointed.
