In Monday's editorial section, Linda Farnes is quoted as saying: "Allow states to extend health care to every one of their citizens." All I get from this message is "Gimme, Gimme, Gimme."
The state of Florida or any other state is not responsible for your health care. Furthermore, the only monies that they would have to pay such a program come out of every citizen's pocket.
To pay for health care, let's raise property taxes to cover the bill. Or, let's impose a sales tax increase or let's impose income tax reform to cover the tab. So Linda, what would you choose?
The only people who should be in charge of our life and death are we the people, not a bunch of Washington loonies. I for one do not want socialistic controls over my life. If I want to work hard and be rewarded financially for my efforts, that is in part what freedom is all about.
