It has been said that recognition of a problem is half of the solution. Forty percent of the tax in our country is paid by 1 percent of the people. Likely about 49 percent of the population pay more than their pro-rata share, 35 percent pay their pro-rata share and 15 percent are strictly parasites (not temporarily recession caused unemployed).
Generation after generation, from cradle to the grave, the parasites never do any constructive work, unless drug dealing, prostitution, robbing, burglary, stealing cars, murder, etc., are deemed to be constructive work (just the other day I heard of a young man who had just stolen a $45,000 luxury car and couldn't understand why he could not be issued a ticket rather than going to jail).
Recently, on "Court T.V.," a very pleasant young man said matter of fact, "I had just been out shoplifting." His mother, who was standing beside him, commented, "If he should be caught he would be given only probation." Taking care of the shoplifting needs of the family appeared to be as routine as doing the weekly grocery shopping.
We have generation after generation of parasites because our society contributes to their dependency. Those determining disability must have enough cases to justify their job. Incredibly, minute injuries or handicaps qualify for disability tax supported payments. Those who have enough intelligence to have their children without marrying receive assisted housing, tax funded checks and food stamps.
While I did not approve of everything that Franklin Roosevelt did, he was to be commended for workfare rather than welfare. The C.C.C. camps, W.P.A. and other programs provided a chance rather than charity. Among other things, many of our national parks were built by C.C.C. workers. The taxpayers received a return on their money.
