The saying "don't rain on my parade" could have been taken literally Friday when Mother Nature failed to cooperate with the parade organizers, the Heartland Young Professionals.
The parade has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, said Dusty Johnson, president of the young professionals organization.
This year's theme is "Cartoons of Christmas' Past," said Johnson in a previous report.
There were about 80 entries at last count, said Johnson.
"We had a few last-minute people come in," he said.
Everybody was looking forward to it for Friday night, he said, adding he was disappointed nature didn't allow it to go as planned.
"We're looking forward to making it a successful parade on Thursday and hope that everyone will still be able to make it out," he said.
The parade will take the same reverse route as it did last year, with participants lining up after 4 p.m., between Shontee Avenue and North Ridgewood Drive on the Sebring Parkway on a first-come basis.
Starting at 7 p.m. the parade will head up North Ridgewood Drive, entering counter-clockwise onto the Circle.
The parade will turn right onto South Commerce Avenue toward Firemen's Field, where the parade will end.
Carousel of Lights Saturday
Due to the heavy rain predicted Friday the lighting of the Carousel of Lights was also postponed at Circle Park to 6 p.m. tonight.
Santa will be there at the Santa House, as well as free puppet shows every half hour.
