Spring Lake

It's been said, sometimes whimsically, that "no good deed goes unpunished" and that has certainly proven true for the Spring Lake Improvement District Board. It is with great good fortune that the residents of Spring Lake are blessed with a board and district manager that does not spend time looking in the rear view mirror but instead is planning for the future of this fine community with its best interest at the forefront.

It is no longer 1974, contrary to one person's opinion; it is almost 2010 and times are changing. These changes will enable Spring Lake to be consistent with other special districts.

I do not know, nor wish to know, anyone who is so uninformed and malicious that he could make accusations that this board is posing a "grim threat" and "hijacking a community." What ridiculous nonsense! This person is grasping at any opportunity to create dissent and is clearly pursuing his own agenda and desperately needs his "15 minutes of fame" or is it infamy? While the district manager continues to do an excellent job, he has no vote and the board is an entirely separate entity, completely secure making long- and short-term choices for all the residents, not "following along" behind the district manager. No senior homeowners will be "forced into foreclosure" by any action of this board.

The Spring Lake residents are and will continue to be kept informed at every juncture. No good deed goes unpunished. However, the overwhelming verbal outpouring of support and approval for this board and its chairman is extremely satisfying. I would strongly encourage all concerned citizens to express those and any other thoughts-opinions-views both by writing to local papers and by forwarding a copy to S.L.I.D.
