An Auburndale man remained in Highlands County Jail Tuesday under an $80,000 bond after his Monday arrest for allegedly breaking into homes in the area near Hartt and Arbuckle Creek roads.
Curtis Dale Blankenship, 28, was charged with two counts each of burglary of an unoccupied dwelling while unarmed, possession of burglary tools and grand theft.
He is accused of taking, from two different homes, Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii video game consoles, two Wii controllers and two games, an iPod, a knife, a rubber ball, a glass jar containing $10 and three watches, according to the arrest report.
Blankenship was arrested after Highlands County Sheriff's Deputy Michael Huften stopped his car because of an active arrest warrant.
Huften got consent from Blankenship to search his car, the report stated. It was then the deputy reportedly found a gym bag in the trunk that had all the stolen items inside.
The deputy also found another gym bag that had work gloves, two "screwdriver-style pry tools" and several other cloth bags inside, the report stated.
Both burglarized homes reportedly had pry marks on the back doors that appeared to have been made by the tools found in Blankenship's car.
