I have always been and still am amazed at the intelligence and command of the language of young Suzannah Beiner. However, I hope that she has learned a lesson in the column she wrote in the Aug. 5 edition of Highlands Today. She berated the media for not clamoring for more to be done to release Laura Ling and Euna Lee. She stated "What is Ban Ki Moon's proposal, what does Hilary Clinton think, when will Obama stop dancing around and ask for some real results?"
In fact, as she now knows and should be embarrassed about, not only the president and secretary of state but hundreds of other people were quietly and desperately working toward the release of these young women. Had they brought the media into the task it would have been blasted all over the world with every journalist giving a different opinion and the whole thing would have gone down the tubes.
Good journalism comes with bitter experiences and I'm sure she will benefit from this. Anyway Suzannah, keep up the good work, someday you will outshine the best!
