After considering a price increase, the school district's food service director told the school board recently that lunch prices will not be going up at this time.
"I just feel real good about where we found ourselves at the end of the year," District Food Service Director Martha Brown told the school board recently. "We were blessed with some bonus commodities toward the end of the year, which pushed up some of our fund balance money."
The department was able to pay its share of the utilities, she noted.
"I really have always been hesitant with a meal price increase if we just didn't have to do it to survive," Brown said. "So I'm comfortable with skipping this year and seeing where things take us next year."
Assistant Superintendent of Business Operation Mike Averyt said Brown has done a good job of monitoring and changing the procedures to focus on her department's expenditures and revenues.
You can see the difference from the previous years, he added
So lunch prices will remain at $2.10 for elementary students, $2.35 for middle and high school students and $3.10 for adults.
